Easter Baby anyone?! You NEED to see this!!!

Spring time usually occurs around the Easter period, and since it’s a time of life and growing…

Well we thought we would put our two favourite things together…Easter and Pregnancy!

Pregnancy is such a wonderful time for many parents but many get hung up on the labor part…that baby has to come out!  During labor, the cervix changes from a tightly closed entrance which prevents anything from getting into or out of the uterus,  to protect the baby into a fully open exit for the baby.  Sometimes looking at a cervix dilation chart can help people to understand what’s happening at each stage of labor.

During labor, intense contractions of the uterus help move the baby down and eventually out of the pelvis, and into the vagina. These contractions put pressure on the cervix and cause it to expand slowly. Contractions tend to get stronger, closer together, and more regular as labor progresses.

Medically labor can be divided into three stages:

  • Stage one: early, active, and transition labor. Contractions begin, the cervix dilates, and the baby moves down in the pelvis. Stage one is complete when the cervix has dilated to 10 centimeters (cm).
  • Stage two: The body begins pushing out the baby. During this stage, women often feel a strong urge to push. This stage ends with the birth of the baby.
  • Stage three: Contractions push out the placenta. This stage ends with the delivery of the placenta.

During stage one the dilations which our cervix encounter, we have summarised in Easter eggs:

1cm the mini egg, nothings get in or out!

2cm the Lindt egg, still early days

3cm the dime egg

4cm the smarties egg, you could say your half way there

5cm the boiled egg

6cm the kinder egg

7cm the milky bar egg perhaps our favourite

8cm the button egg

9cm the rolo egg

10cm the Cadbury egg its on its way!

We have had so much fun creating this and even more so when we realised we could munch our way through the Dilation game too.  Check out our rendition of the cervix’s dilation in labor, through easter eggs….
