PE Sessions

Introducing Yoga into your physical education curriculum will teach children about flexibility, stress management, and mindfulness.  It is an excellent addition to any program, and children really enjoy it along with taking away essential tools.

Yoga is a great lifetime activity that can help children learn to deal with stress, improve their mood, and increase fitness levels which helps them lead healthier, happier lives.  Yoga for children is becoming popular as a way to helping them to feel more comfortable and confident with their bodies.

A child who learns yoga, mindfulness and relaxation will develop essential skills for a lifetime of health and wellness.

Yoga for Autism

Our fabulous Kalma yoga classes designed especially for those on the autistic spectrum to enjoy. From the venue, music and lighting, to preparing and making them feel welcome. These sessions still offer all the benefits of a yoga class for their age group but in an environment the yogis can feel safe. It is well known that children with autism gain a great deal from physical activity and in yoga they can push themselves and also learn techniques to help them with the frustrations that daily life can sometimes bring.

SPELL is The National Autistic Society’s framework for understanding and responding to the needs of children and adults on the autism spectrum. It focuses on five principles that have been identified as vital elements of best practice in autism, and emphasises ways to change the environment and our approaches to meet the specific needs of each person. SPELL is the approach inside all our Autism Friendly classes.

Anti Bullying, School Sports and Childrens Mental Health Week

Our yoga sessions create accepting environments for our children as we believe this helps children feel welcomed and valued. Kalma Juniors offers an inclusive yoga program for primary aged children which can give a great sense of belonging.

Kalma Minds & Wellbeing supports the Anti-Bullying Alliance and we take part each year in the week which falls in November. Our ethos is to be completely inclusive and we want to pass that on to the next generation too. Yoga can start children on journey to lifelong health and wellbeing, helps them to be empowered, comfortable in their own skin and work with others and these sessions will focus on celebrating the differences in all of us. During the 45 minute free session children will experience sequences of yoga postures, breathing and mindfulness. Children can learn techniques to use in everyday life situations.

Contact us for information regarding booking us during these weeks.

Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what our schools are saying…

“We had our school sports week with Kalma Life and our children took so much out of doing yoga for the week.  Children have been able to use their imagination whilst learning to understand the way in which the body moves.  Learning to use breathing to exercise their minds has been fascinating for them!”  PE coordinator South Shields

“Our key stage one children look forward to yoga each week.  We have it during lunch break so that the children can feel energised after the morning sessions.  You can always notice a difference in the morning and after lunch time!” Key stage one teacher

“Nursery children relaxing is a wonderful thing to see.  They lead such busy activities all day and to give them 15 minutes of relaxing and teaching them to be still is a gift itself.  We look forward to it each week.” Busy bees

“SATS week comes so quickly!  It can be super stressful for the children and we have genuinely found a way for them to manage the emotions of the weeks leading up to test.  Breathing, stretching and relaxing-teaching the lots of self regulation tools.”

“Absolutely loving Kalma Life classes for our secondary school.  You can really see the students unwind and get some real internal nourishment.  Teens face so many stressful situations and pressures as they grow and its rewarding to know as a school we are giving them essesntial tools”
